Volume: To Fly in God's Heaven

The practical sense of spiritual life has probably been lost, and perhaps the truth of original sin with its consequences still alive in each of us has not been duly taken into account. It is no coincidence that the evangelist John states that the "whole world is under the control of the evil one".
Jesus taught us the word: "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak".

An unresolved problem left to grow out of proportion in the mind has a devastating effect. In this case, the will has, as its imperative and only thought, the need to find a solution; however, if points of reference are lacking, fear, anguish, insecurity, and oppression arise within us like ghosts, a mixture of ingredients that will bring about insomnia.
From a serene life, we will venture into a dark tunnel where, as in a solar eclipse, we will be projected towards depressive forms which, in the most glaring cases, will be resistant even to the most effective drugs.
The sense of impermanence, the refusal to live, as well as meaninglessness, produce devastating effects on the mind, and this occurs due to the loss of fundamental values. The perspective changes for the believer who, secure in God's love, faces life's difficulties with joy, happiness, and faith, certain of victory.

The volume "To Fly in God's Heaven" has brought out feelings in me that are very difficult to describe. My shop windows are not jewelry stores, but bookstores; when I discovered the website of the Invisible Monastery of Charity and Brotherhood, after wandering the Internet and trying other Catholic sites, I stopped. I had the feeling that I had arrived in the right place, now I am certain of it. Furthermore, there were 4 books to read; my curiosity was such that upon their arrival, I devoted myself to reading the last one, "To Fly in God's Heaven".
I read it quickly. With this first reading I did not form an opinion, but I was left confused and inexplicably drawn to it. I told myself: it is not catechesis, nor evangelization via the Internet, and not even a warning made by two fanatical Christian people, as I know so many. I devoted myself to a more in-depth reading, to understand better. As I moved forward with the reading, my presumed ideas eclipsed. While reading I had the feeling of not being alone. Was I dreaming? Those sentences, those words became fixed in my mind, penetrated my heart giving me emotions never felt before while reading a book, I was happy, I was reading the answers to my many questions.
I am an avid reader, especially, lately, of spiritual books; I have a very well-stocked library, reading them has opened my heart and mind, they have strengthened the desire to know and love God. Despite the beauty and their precious content, the simplicity of this book was disconcerting: it possesses the gift of making you feel part of what you read, as if to say, I felt part of the book, I lived it, it was the first time it happened to me, I was in those pages, I lived those words, I felt them alive and I felt alive. Ancient and new sentences, they speak and make themselves understood by the cultured and uncultured person alike; I am certain the sensations they give are the same for everyone even if experienced and received according to the state of mind of that moment, according to one's own life experiences. I felt as if I were dialoguing with a spiritual father, who with his sweetness explained to me, without doing catechesis, without imposing himself, but with the simplicity that only love and humility can give. I perceived an authentic faith, love towards God, and with amazement I felt love towards myself as well.
I wondered how it was possible that from reading a simple book, evocations of happy and unhappy events arose. No other reading has given me so many emotions, awakened dormant feelings and the joy of learning that it is not necessary to do grandiose actions to be in God's grace, it is enough to live one's daily life eliminating all those defects of our character, wrong attitudes towards others, grudges and resentments that do more harm to us than to the person they are directed at. Evils that hinder the path of spiritual life and the simple life of every day. If even just one sentence from this reading remains imprinted in my mind, it is enough to open a breach on the path called love. And love, as is known, heals all spiritual evils and makes one accept physical ones.
Now I have the true awareness that if I fall, and I fall often so much so that I always have scraped knees, God is beside me to patiently help me get up stronger than before. I must learn to use my knees only to help a brother or sister who reaches out to ask for "alms" and with the "alms" give them a smile and a caress, because I am no different from her or him in the eyes of God and men.

Many, today, feel lost and empty and chase false idols or dubious ideologies. We are living in a moment of confusion, of loss of ideals, moral and religious values. Souls wander blindly in search of themselves or, worse, have abandoned any search. This very rich book "To Fly in God's Heaven" shows itself as an illuminating path towards the true goal: the search for ourselves, for the Way that leads to Truth, to the Supreme Good. This search, as St. Augustine already observed, is accomplished not "outside", but "inside" us.
The work of the Guelpa brothers introduces and guides "the path" following the evangelical teachings of the Master. The book indicates what steps must be taken to reach that state of Grace that frees us and allows us to approach, to receive the Love and counsel of the Creator.
To eradicate pride and arrogance, the main enemies of our salvation, of our true essence, created to love. To conquer humility, to fight the main sins that obscure the mind and soul.
To be ready, finally, to make that inner journey of seven stages (Recall St. Teresa of Avila - "The Interior Castle") which, through no little suffering and struggle against the "human" and through constant and profound prayer, leads us to abandon our old and worn garment to prepare a "new garment" with which to present ourselves to the Lord and do His Will.
